M. C. Escher
Waterfall
October 1961
Lithograph
380×300 mm
This work of art is very interesting. It looks as if the waterfall is going straight, but the waterfall falls so far down. Also, if you look at the pillars, it almost looks as if they are out of order. Even though this is just black and white, it has lots of meaning to it.M. C. Escher makes all different kinds of mathematical arts and impossible pictures. His works were not noticed until he was 50 years old. In almost every work of art by M. C. Escher, includes tessalations and 3-D shapes. WEIRD?!

By - George Coghill
Chrysalis 02
oil on canvas
2003
36"W x 48"H
This work of art is a perfect example of value because it has all different shades of blue overlaping each other. George Coghill is a cartoon illustrator. Every since he was young, he was interested in making cartoons. I really like this work of art because the value in different sections make the design very interesting. I also like the way that he makes lot of shapes overlap. When the shapes overlap, the value of blue does too. A lot of the lines in this work of art are curved a they all don't make shapes. Some of them just turn into curves.

By - George Seurat
A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte
1884-86
This work of art is a fine example of pointilism! Pointilism is a type of art where all you use is points. This takes a lot of time and skill. This work of art has a lot of detailed shadows. Also, you can tell when this work of art was made. All of the men wear top hats and some of them hold canes. If you look at the women, they wear old-time dresses and umbrellas.

Jan Davidsz de Heem
A Table of Desserts
1640
Currently on display at the Louvre

Jan Davidsz de Heem is a very skilled Dutch painter. Most of his art consists of still-life. He enjoys painting of plants and fruit. This painting shows lots of texture on the food, plants, and bowls. I like the way that the artist uses so much detail. Also, the artist uses fantastic color, escpecially on the table. If you notice in the back of the painting, there is a counter that looks very realistic because of the use of value. To find some more of Jan Davidsz de Heem paintings CLICK HERE!
Wanda Riske
The Door
9 x 8 feet
Aerosol
Wanda Riske always liked art since she was little. She never had a true understanding of art until she was older. When she was growing up, art completly left her and she never came back to it until she was 32. It all started when she took a short course in oil painting and loved it. Then she tried other types of art and loved those too. She now paints musicians, indians, space scenes, graffiti, portraits, life drawings, fantasy, hard times, and wall murals. She also makes clothes and sculptures. This work of art has great value and seems as if everything is getting sucked into a hole. It is also a good example of line because she curved the lines like a tornado.
